an admission...

My mom found two little jars in her purse last week.  He he he.  That was because I like "mini" things.  Who doesn't right?  How could  I resist these little jam jars?  They were on the table at our Valentine breakfast.  Nobody used them so I slipped them into my mom's purse (I didn't have mine with me).  She had no idea (bonus fun fun).  I emptied them onto some gluten-free toast a few days later.  I think it tasted better.  It was fancy and I like a little fancy now and then.  Do you ever take the little unused jars of jam or honey with you?  Do you think it's stealing?

Yes and nope - you've paid for it- it's an individual size so it is part of the meal. But, if it makes it taste better to think that you were being naughty - then just go with it :-D

I love mini things! I don't think its stealing...they wouldn't put it out there if you weren't supposed to enjoy it...even if it's days later!

Back in the day when they gave you actual mini silverware on airplanes for your inflight meal, my Opa would snatch them up every time he used them. Years later he had a whole set of mini silverware! Quite convenient for certain meals, like soft boiled eggs. (now maybe thats more along the lines of stealing...)

I don't think they refill them for another patron's visit. If they did then that would be unsanitary. You know how many times my children have licked the parmisean cheese shakers at the pizza parlor, neither do I. Don't worry all of you pizza eaters, I take them up to the counter and inform the help that they need to be washed. I may be the only mother that does though; food for thought (no pun intended). www.etsy.com/shop/RockinJ9designs

I would think that unopened jars are a bit of a money saver for the restaurant.......however since the cost of the jam is most likely covered by the cost of the meal (since only 2 jars were served and not a whole basketful) I don't see how taking the jam for later use would be considered stealing.
