another friday lunch...
I promise this is not another culinary themed week here at Everton Terrace but I simply must share this. One of my favorite little breakfast and lunch places is only a hop skip and jump away from my house. It's tucked away behind another much bigger and fancier restaurant. The much bigger and fancier establishment is a tres chic French restaurant called Vincent on Camelback. MY place, the place that makes my heart go pitter patter, is owned by the same person and is at the back of said fancy schmancy joint but with a different entrance - it is called....
We call it "Vinnie's" for short. I love Vinnie's. It's an adorable bistro that's always hoppin' and we stopped by Friday, for lunch on the patio.
When you sit down in this cozy bistro, they don't throw some cut up French bread in a basket on the table - OH NO MY FRIENDS NOT MY BELOVED VINNIE'S. This pretty china plate is set before you...
I swear if ever I'm tempted to give in and deal with the consequences later, it's when that plate of scrumpdillyicious croissants with a side of jam is put on my table. I was strong, sad, but strong. Lunch? I ordered quiche and ate the middle, leaving the crust.
This plate of salmon was also ordered. Not by me of course. I want to like fish, I just can't. That oil sauce business in the mini pitcher was nicely shared with me though. I poured it all over my salad. Thumbs up. I did not take that mini pitcher but don't think I didn't want to - it is a "mini" after all and my dishes are all white so it would settle in nicely in my cupboard. I didn't take it, pinky swear.
And the freshly made pasta - oh dear daughter of mine, I am sorry you have to see this, this dish you love so well - look away my sweet - scroll down quickly and be spared the agony of want. Wait, that's what you get for moving to Seattle you little twirp! I miss you.
Top this? YES - OH YES I CAN. They bring you a little complimentary sweet treat at the end of your meal. Not like a mint , nothing so trivial. No. No. No. A full blown (okay, mini but still) homemade dessert on more china. I kid you not. The croissants and dessert come with your meal! I love free - I really do. There was ice-cream on top of this brownie but I ate that and left the delicious looking chocolate square of gluten on my plate.
Another lovely and perfect Friday afternoon. I might have to make this a tradition while the weather is so nice. It is a perfect way to gear up for our Friday night card games! If any of you ever come to visit me, rest assured, we'll be partaking of at least one meal here and you can have my croissant.

Girl! Book my passage! That looks So yummy! (dear peanut butter, I'm sorry to have to leave you like this, but.....)jk~! Really - looking for an excuse now to head your way! Love little neighborhood places like that! We had ones in Denver and Atlanta that were quaint and privately owned - I miss those. Love the china touches! Love when they don't care if they match! Thanks for starting me off with a smile! Happy Monday everyone! Now,have coffee, so it must be~ breakfast time!
Love your culinary posts and pics, they are wonderful! Looks like the kind of cozy place I enjoy! Croissants, mmmm! We have one of those neighborhood places.....yes, just one and it's my favorite breakfast and lunch place.
VINNIE'S. Ugh. Looks so delicious. And I really really do love that pasta. However, I have to toot my own horn a bit and say I made delish beef stroganoff and salad with homemade dressing last night. Which will also serve as my lunch for today. And the rest of the week. I learned from the best. Miss you too Momma.
Friday lunches, such a treat! Scrumptious food.
Big Yum!!! your food posts are great!!! Thank you so very much for the sweet comment you left me today..so meaningful...Yes, "the cake" was a box I purchased at an Estate sale..when Kelro saw the photo he said "wow, awesome cake"...so their you... my mommas birthday cake...
I shouldn't be reading this around lunch time... I can't concentrate. Once again, great photos!
I feel so hungry all of a sudden...haven't heard of that little bistro before. But I'm pretty sure Vincent is the bees knee's when it comes to chefs around Phoenix...right?
