My friend Marni has a daughter named Madeline. She is about to give birth to a boy and the name is still up in the air - that's why we're here.
Marni and her husband have narrowed their search down to the following names. They're wondering what you all think and if you have any other ideas. Their last name is "Marquardt". Here we go...
- Trevor
- Joel
- Jameson
- Liam
- Knox
- Elijah
- Hector
Side note: I did not take this photo. It's from 1944. It's my Dad, but don't tell anybody because I didn't ask him if I could use it..........I think he looks like Mr.Magoo in this photo.

Out of their choices I like Liam and Hayes but I'd like to add "Max". I think it would sound nice. Good Luck to your friends!
I vote for Elijah Hayes or Jameson Hayes but don't shorten Jameson to James or Jamie, that would ruin it.
This is a loaded question for me!
When I chose names for my boys, I started with origins that I liked, Irish and Hebrew in my case. Once I had a list of names I liked, I looked up all of their meanings. Throughout history, across cultures, names were chosen to denote a character trait of a child, or maybe with the hope of their eventual embodiment of the character traits associated with their names. (and sometimes it defined the family business or relation). But, I embraced the idea that I wanted to name my boys with traits I hoped they would one day embody and display as part of who they become.
With my eldest, his 1st name means Honorable, Valiant and Brave, while his middle name means Happy and Blessed. With the youngest: 1st name means Man of Prayer while his middle name means Wise or Wisdom.
With that in mind………
Elijah: My God is the Lord
Trevor: Large settlement
Joel: The Lord is God
Jameson: Supplanter (one who takes the place of or moves into the position of another)
Liam: Will, desire and helmet, protection; Hebrew: my people
Knox: Round-topped hill
Hector: Holding fast
David: Beloved
Hayes: Enclosure
Here are my votes (in order):
Liam Hayes
Elijah David
Elijah Hayes
Jameson Hayes
Sorry for such a long answer - but I take this more seriously than most I think.
I vote for Liam as well! In order my vote is: Liam, Elijah and Hayes.
My vote is for Liam or Trevor - Hayes for middle, cool name.
I was leaning towards Jameson but after reading Maria's list of meanings I have changed my mind.
I vote for Liam David.
