things i love thursday...

I have a problem.  I have a problem with lip balm.  I don't like chapped lips.  I also don't like rough elbows, heels or dry hands but that will be a lotion post some other time.  Wait, we've done lotion.  I swear, it just gets worse and worse up here in my brain.

I have a slight obsession with lip balms.  I have them everywhere.  Here at my desk, on my vanity, next to my side of the bed, in all my purses, kitchen drawer....you get the idea.  You never know when you're going to need some.  I always need some.  I live in Arizona.  We have no moisture in the air.  My lips need moisture.  Must always be ready for a little kiss right?  As you can see, I've gathered a few (it was easy, they're all over the house).  Let's go over them shall we?

My least favorite is the one from The Body Shop.  It's greasy and doesn't stay on.  I've gotta give it to the old standard, Chapstick.  It just plain works.  The green Origins is new.  I'm taking it for a test spin.  So far, so good.  That green ball looking one at the back is also fairly new, it's called EOS and when you open it, it's a little ball.  Goes on very easily, lovin' it.  My two favorites are the La Mer and the one in front without the wrapper.

Obviously on the La Mer right?  I mean it's like $45 so it should rock, and it does.  It was a birthday present from my often mentioned great gift giving friend, Ewa - really a perfect present for me. The only reason I have any left is because I use is sparingly.  It is tied with the other one for my favorite, but only because it is so expensive that I stress out when I use it (it is better).   The one without the label?  The one I adore and use. all. the. time.  The one that when I first ran out and the label was gone I panicked because I couldn't remember where I got it, is from Avon and it's about $1.50.  Can you believe it?  I just checked their website for you and I didn't see this exact one but this looks close.

What's your favorite?

Coming up later.........food of course!

I hear you on the lip balm! Though we are humid here in sunny Florida, the wind, salt and sun take it out of your lips. I steer clear of anything that is petroleum based as it creates a vicious cycle where your lips eventually just stop producing their own moisture and become dependent on the balms. I also can not STAND anything sticky! Must glide on smooth and be light and long lasting - am I asking too much?

I really like Burt's Bees little sticks that have a hint of tint to them and Yes to Carrots makes one I like as well - both are organic and under $3 (if I find them on sale at Target - or even Books a Million - I load up!)

I splurge on the LaMer once a year. Worth every penny in my book.

For me it's a tie between Burt's Bees and Chapstick. I even have to apply mine after eating, those dry lips sometimes hurt!
Maria, I'm now thinking perhaps my lips have stopped producing their own moisture!
I too keep lip balms everywhere!

Definitely Chapstick. Going now to check to see if it has petroleum.

There is a cheap Nivea one that I love called "A Kiss of Moisture". It's the second best one I have ever used. Aveena stopped making the best chapstick in the history of the world, and it was devastating. Of course, I also love La Mer, but as a student, I only get to use it when I am visiting my momma.

I saw that EOS stuff at Walgreens, I was going to try it but I think it was a bit spendy, got some chapstick instead.

My sister in law uses LaMer. I like the smell but I swear by Smiths Rosebud Salve.

I use the same as MJM, the Nivea. After reading Maria's comments, I checked the ingrediants and don't see petroleum unless it goes by another name. I think this stuff is great!

I have a chapstick problem too...they're everywhere. My product of choice is Burt's Bees Pomegranate. Yum!

There is chapstick everywhere in our home.

I'd just like to say that I'm glad you have acknowledged your problem. It is the firt step to recovery. ;-)

I vote for La Mer! I only buy it once a year or maybe even less often (I guess I don't use lip balm as often as some) so I can splurge the crazy $45. It would be different if it was something I use all the time. I just love the hint of mint in it and when my kids lick their lips too much looking like they just came out of a plastic surgeon's office La Mer does wonders. e.

My sweet daughter introduced me to Burt's Bees about a year ago. Can't thank her enough. Works like a charm: stings like a ... guess what? First time I used it I thought I was giving an impression of Goldie Hawn in 'First Wive's Club'. Trout Pout notwithstanding, this brilliant product quickly cures even deep peeling, chapped lips. Brought it back to Australia and now it has become my second most important cosmetic aid. Thank God for daughters and little hive dwellers!

I bought Nivea's "A Kiss of Moisture" Hydrating Lip Care the other day and I love it! Best of the drug store brands, in my opinion.

it has to be Burts Bee's, for me. I have had the greasy, dry, minty, chunky, smelly, & flavored, it is Burts Bees, lip balm in the little round yellow tin container. Also the tube lipsticks called lip 'shimmers' all organic and NOT tested on animals.
Yep.
