things i love thursday on friday...
You see, I forgot to post my "Vintage Finds" on Wednesay like I usually do because one of my best friends, my dog Jake, was supposed to have oral surgery and things were all cattywampus so I forgot and pushed it to Thursday and the universe fell out of alignment and here we are on Friday where I post photos and things are a mess and I'm winded from typing that seriously long run-on sentence. This is why we should stick to a schedule. HA - that's a line Andrew Henry and the daughter have heard me utter WAY too many times in their lives. I got it from my father, so blame him.
This thing I love could be, for some, a bit of an embarrasing admission. Some, but not me. I proudly say to you, I am a 43 year old somewhat cultured and well travelled woman who loves to play her Game Boy. Laugh if you must, but this little game has been with me during my bouts of insomnia, in many doctors' waiting rooms, car trips, airplanes, while "we" are watching the Super Bowl on TV and even the boring parts of my daughter's college graduation - don't tell her, she has no idea I was playing Dr. Mario while they were doing the speech parts. Hey, did you know President Obama spoke at her college graduation last year? I bet you didn't. That wasn't the one, during which I was playing Dr. Mario. I mean, no matter your politics, when a sitting President is speaking, you should maybe listen, it's polite. I'm polite. No, it was the one that took place the next day at the Honor's College - I was kind of graduationed out and sitting way up in the balcony and it was dark, no one knew. I promise.
Anyway, take a look at the wear and tear if you question how much I have played this thing over the last eight years...
It was a gift from Andrew Henry. He knows how much I like puzzle games and I only play this one game on Game Boy. This same game over and over. I haven't played in a while. Blogland and the Etsy Shop have left me little time for frivolities. It's just sitting next to my bed right now, waiting, like a patient friend. Yep, Dr. Mario and I - we're old friends.
Aren't friends great? All the new friends you make out here in Blogland are the icing on the cake. My sweet and inspirational new friend, Denalee at Silver Strands, awarded me that "I love your blog" button that is now proudly being displayed on the right side of my blog. Thanks so much Denalee.
Coming up in a bit, we'll play our caption game...

I LOVE this admission! And - in this "I can do ANYTHING on my phone" age in which we live - I am SO into the old school mentality. Saw an ad with "Space Invaders" in it last night - and we laughed at how our #1 son would think that game was completely wonderful, in all its simplicity. Game on Momma!
Admittedly, I love puzzle games :) I love this post in general, and admittedly, the things I love may be somewhat embarrassing too, lol.
Thanks so much for the nicey on my blog. I look forward to reading more of yours.
Hello I just found your blog through Silver Strands and I must say it is GREAT!!!
that is OLD SCHOOL- My monkeys have DS's which I always call Game Boys which makes me ancient in their eyes.
You can't help what you love. I thought I couldn't be converted to Kindle because of my devotion to books, but I have to say, it's a good thing...
Okay, first of all, how's Jake? Now I'm all worried! And in times past I might have judged but with my ipod touch I've come to know the intense joy of playing games while waiting, and yes, it makes everything much more pleasant.
My college graduation speaker was a state senator who was retiring. And he spoke forever. And ever. Mainly about his own career.
Did I mention my college graduation was outside? And with the exception of the dais, which was under a tent, we were all sitting in the rain?
My view of politicians decreased that day.
Thanks for the chuckle ~ I tend to play Bejeweled Blitz on my iphone when I am kept waiting at the airport, doctor's office, etc.! Have a great weekend. xo
I don't have a game boy or anything which has come after! I do play Master Mahjong on my computer!
Lady Ren and Maria nailed it. This Gameboy is "Old School" for sure.
It has seen some SERIOUS use folks. My wife is lightening fast on that thing. It is something to behold!
Great to find you, I adore Silver Strands, Denalee! Great site...as yours is!

I'm so so whit you when saying Blog land and Etsy take all our time. But do we dislike it? Nop!
Hugs for a grand weekend, could you please send some sun beams my way? ;o)
Just discovered your blog today. This confession is quite the fun way to be introduced to you!
Hahahha ... I DID laugh out loud. I don't know - it just wasn't what I expected :)
Gotta say, I NEVER would have suspected. Never. You've just become even more interesting. I'm not sure if it's because of this side of you or that you are willing to admit it.
i am NOT good at any computer games. but i do like a fun board game.
