vintage finds...

Yes, I do know vintage finds doesn't happen on Tuesdays.  Things are all jumbled up because I'm on vacation so we're doing things in vaca' mode.  Whenever, wherever, slow and easy.  This is funny because I have to work and that type of vacation.  I'm a planner, a scheduler.

My poor family loved the only vacation we ever took that I promised not to carefully plan out in advance (Hawaii).  I admit it was fun but secretly I was filled with anxiety most of the time.  I'm working on it, really I am.  My mom and I left Arizona for the 1,500 mile drive up to Seattle without any plan or hotel reservation - this is real progress for me.

The daughter moved into her own place last week.  No more roommates.   I think for her, an only child, it was fun while it lasted but the girl likes her space.  Needs her alone time, always has.  She was also sick of living with two male "roomies" who have no idea what a sponge or mop is for.  So, she has a one-bedroom apartment all to herself now and we are here to fill it up.  Fun is a an eight letter word - DECORATE.

The daughter is doing shabby chic because, let's face it, it's affordable and a struggling law school student needs affordable.  Also, she likes it and so do we.  Vintage is in our blood.  My mother had an antique shop for years and I sell vintage jewelry in my Etsy Shop.  We're flea market, estate sale and auction junkies.

We did a little estate sale shopping before we headed up to Seattle, just picked up a few bits and bobs to get things rolling.  Thought you might like to see a snippet of the items we loaded up for the long haul.
The plate at the top is one of eight vintage Buffalo China plates.  They're those heavy old diner type plates.  Love that (was hard for this momma not to keep them).  The rest are little pretties.  A few of the kitchen items...

A little Pigeon Forge Pottery jug with a buttercream glaze inside...

Two lovely blue square Hall dishes for whatever (I can't find any image except the bottom - sorry)...

Something to hold napkins (this isn't old but it looked the part so we forgave it)...

and this AWESOME prewar German set "Grammi" (she has always referred to her grandmother this way) picked up for my lucky lucky girl (we knew it was for us when we saw there were TWO sugar holders)...

This is part of the cutest little milkglass luncheon set.  You know, she is my daughter so it's quite possible there will be ladies luncheons at #104 (her apt' number).

Whew, we've covered just a bit of the looty we've hauled up.  Tomorrow I'll show you a bit more...

i will share a little secret i have learned after many years as a gypsy, every house number, apartment number, or the street name says something! i thought it was funny how her apartment number actually sounded like a time of day a busy planner would set for a lunch! "i will be serving lunch at 1:04" you girlies have fun! (;

She is so lucky! My mom was never the decorating type, and I've always been so jealous of people whose mothers help them with their apartments! I have a good mother-in-law now, though, she gives me all kinds of things! Hope you have a fun and safe trip! XO!

Those are Hall refrigerator leftover dishes, when you bought a Westinghouse refrigerator you got 3 refrigerator leftover dishes with lids and a pitcher for water with lid, very collectible.

I have that same pre-war German set - it's in almost perfect condition and I still remember seeing it on the shelf on my grandma's farm! I feel so blessed that it was gifted to me when she passed away!

Have a blast ladies!
