#102 cont'd...

Picking up where we left off yesterday with the transformation of #102, let's begin with the apartment warming gift I brought the daughter.  This is in addition to the sofa, kitchen table/chairs, coffee table, patio chairs, microwave, blah blah blah we got her while we were there.  I am generous (and humble) she is grateful and an only child - we are mother/daughter, it's how it works.  My mother still spoils me so I just pay it forward.  Whadda gonna do?

I brought her this print because it is exactly what my daughter looked like throughout her entire childhood and, truth be told, if you switch the book to a Kindle, she still does.  It is from the wonderfully talented Kirsten over at Tollipop.  She has a blog and an Etsy shop and the daughter and I have both have a girl crush on her.  I mean seriously, how cute is this?

The daughter also framed the little card that came with the print because it's that cute.  It's here on the left...

Aren't the shelf dishy things on the wall cool?  They are from the Queen Mary.  Picked them up years ago at an estate sale full of the very best of everything (vintage Louis Vuitton steamer trunks etc).  They are perfect for keys, cell phone etc., and we put them right inside by the front door.  Here are some views of the rest of the pad...

Uh oh, that's Andrew Henry outside on the patio painting a bookshelf (seriously we didn't stop working).  This is a $5 Goodwill table - old, sturdy wood, nice piece...

I've had that blue chair since the daughter was little.  It was originally yellow with big flowers.  She picked out this blue velvet and golden trim for the re-do, came out nicely I think.

Here are some cute vintage aprons hanging in the kitchen/dining room.  They are hanging from some old scoring peg boards of some kind.  I've had both forever.  Table is wood from a consignment shop in Seattle - made in England, nice wood, good shape, $30.  Four matching chairs are generic but in near mint condition and $13 a piece at that wonderful Ballard Goodwill.  Think the tablecloth is from Anthropologie and that yellow fruit bowl we picked up at a thrift store in Provo on the way up to Seattle....

We also picked up these very heavy crystal candlesticks in Provo - great thrifting in that city, glad we stayed overnight there.

You can kind of see the all vintage books in the background there.  I took pic's of them because that is the daughter's favorite thing in the world - books, but they were all blurry, sorry.  It was a challenge to fit them all on the bookshelves (Ikea) but we managed.  You know what else was a challenge?  Finding room for the more than 52 PAIRS OF SHOES - 12 of which are boots...

I cannot judge this.  I am part of the problem.  I am an enabler and I have a few pair myself, though I've never owned a pair of rainboots.  I live in Phoenix.  You might have heard of it.  It's the 5th most populated city in the United States.  It's in the desert.  We get about 8.3" of rain a year.  We wear necklace fans, not rainboots.

Those are the highlights of our trip to Seattle to see the daughter and set her up in #102.  It's cute and cozy and we think nice for her first "all her own" place.

Do you know what our favorite thing in Seattle is?  This girl.

Yep, that's our little girl.  I suppose most people see a 24 year old very capable young woman who just finished her first year of law school and is living on her own in a city 1,500 miles away from her parents.  I see this...

and it makes me wish Seattle was just a little bit closer.

Wow! Just Gorgeous! Ingenious uses of vintage and re-purposed - makes me want you to come go through all of my stuff and tell me how to use it in a new way :-D It really should be in a magazine - maybe a small spaces kind of deal. Wow! And the girl - well, loved her then -still love now.
Meg - if I ever get to run away - I know where I want to go (course, I'll have to stop in Phoenix first):-)

I'm not sure if "the daughter" was cuter as a little girl or now. Beautiful young woman. I want her boot collection. Is that a Kate Spade calendar I see?

That was a really lovely post and I love the appartment/flat!!!My youngest who graduates on the 15th of this month has decided that he loves the 'big city' of my youth much more than our little county town and is staying there but he's a lad and I dont somehow think that my ideas on genteel living would quite work the same magic!! I would probably fayre better going up there with a pair of Marigolds and the Flash spray!!!!

Love the blue velvet chair! It's all very scrumptious and won't it be extra nice to imagine her in these new surroundings? It somehow softens the edges of law school and being away from home...

And thanks for the lovely mention. I can't think of anyone I'd rather be a girl crush with. :)
