Andrew Henry and I indulged in a not so good for us pre-packaged, calorically indulgent and probably chemically friendly treat the other day. Moderation is the key right? I mean, we don't do this very often but it's hotter than you know what outside and that's the excuse we're going with.
Instant chocolate pudding. I know. Doesn't it sounds kind of gross? I don't know what possessed me but it was kind of good. I even put canned whipping cream and chocolate sprinkles on the top because really, if you're going to do it, do it right. I think my daughter might be wondering what has happened to her health food preaching mother so don't tell her about this - it's bad for my reputation.
It took me right back to my grade school cafeteria. My mom used to put those little tin cans of pudding in my lunch - the ones with the peel back lids. I didn't think of them before but as soon as that first spoonful hit my tongue, there I was. Fun memory. Excuse me, the treadmill is calling.
Does anyone out there remember the little lunchbox metal cans of pudding?

Oh my, I want one like that RIGHT NOW!
Have a lovely Friday filled with lots of unexpected pretty moments, Jeanette! xx
LOL! I think the heat has gone straight to your heads! But, yes, not only do I remember eating from those the cans of pudding (mmmmm)their yummy badness, but I also remember my fair share of cuts from those lids - yep a little clutzy - but it was so worth it! Thanks for sending me down memory lane!
Ha Maria - always on the same page we are. I remember the cuts all to well!
LOL, I always stare and secretly long at the instant pudding as I pass by it in the grocery store!!
Happy Weekend :)
This is so funny another blogger just posted about pudding as well. I am sooo craving some now.
A little pudding now and then never hurt anyone. Unless it's from a can. Then it might.
I do remember those tins. And I remember that my mother never let me have them. It was graham crackers for me. :( I LOVE pudding and I have never been able to make it myself. I usually buy the tubs of premade when I have a craving. I try to avoid pre-packaged food as well, but I have a weakness for hot chocolate - the kind you get at diners that was made from a powder and is dispensed from a machine. I like the real stuff too, but the machine kind reminds me of my grandma. She used 2 packets of hot chocolate mix and put butter in it!!!!!! I stop short there. :)
Anything that beautiful must be good for you.
That's the rule, right?
I see absolutely nothing wrong with pudding. They serve it in some very elegant restaurants here in NY and I often partake, butterscotch in particular. Yours looks like lunch to me.
I LOVED those little cans of pudding. I pretty much love any kind of pudding. It's all good.
If we are talking about junk food, I also had a major addiction to hostess twinkies, Suzie-Q's and cup cakes! Absolutely LOVED them!!
You've got to have some fun! Chocolate pudding isn't bad for you, I don't think. It's how much of it you eat that matters.
Brenda
I have fond memories of those puddings, cuts and all!
Have you tried the instant pudding mixes at Trader Joe's? Super yummy and the packaging alone makes it worth the purchase...
:)
