vintage finds...

One of these Wednesday's you'll open up the "vintage finds" post and you won't see another purse here - today is not that day.  I'm not going to say I couldn't help this one because I totally could have - I just didn't.

Running to breakfast a few weekends ago, there was an estate sale sign on the corner by my house - yep, right in my own neighborhood people.  Andrew Henry, acting on my instruction, turned the car around.

What I found was not an actual estate sale, but two tables with a few things scattered on them - no prices (I really don't like that).  I turned to leave and saw this sweet number.  Great shape, just a few beads missing near the clasp, nice and roomy and only $5.  Been carrying it for the past few weeks.

The best part is nobody has one like it and I think that's what I like best.  Weird thing is I don't think I've ever had a white purse.  I don't usually like white purses or shoes (except tennis shoes) - a girl can change her mind no?

What about you - ever carry a vintage purse?

That is beautiful! I have had one or two vintage purses in the past. The problem is that I'm one of theose women who carries everything I own (you know, in case there's an earthquake or something) in my purse and vintage purses carry little more than a lipstick. So I only brought them out for dressy occasions or days when I was feeling like a minimalist (except I don't think minimalists do vintage - whatever). It's been a while since I've used them.

I used to carry vintage purses when I was young and my grandma gave them to me.

Megan - I will show you the purses when we get to my master closet on the Pagoda series (good idea).

Pamela, the handle is beaded with metal underneath for support.

YES that LV was the best find ever. I'm so sad to tell you I don't have it anymore. The handles were really worn and I was going to get them replaced and for the life of me, I just don't know what has happened to it. Perhaps one of those time we got robbed...

Leave it up to my wife to sniff out the only decent bargain in a half hearted yard sale!

It's cute. I don't usually like white purses either but this one isn't obnoxious.
I don't know HOW you find all these purses. How many do you have now?

Yes - I have carried vintage purses - in my life prior to the "Enchanted Mom of Two Boys" season in which I currently reside. But that thing is so sweet, if you strap on a string of pearls, we could ALMOST call you an honorary Southerner!

A girl certainly can change her mind. And then change it again if she so desires!

I remember having a purse like this when I was little that a neighbour gave me- the truth is picking off the little beads was REALLY fun! I'm pretty sure it got tossed after I picked enough of them off!

Not vintage but I do have a white purse that I adore and always get compliments on! That vintage number is sweet!

I have vintage purses, including 2 very early 20th century ones. :)
I have a not small collection of purses; evening, daytime and just fun ones. I have used some of my vintage purses but most of them I have not, I just like purses.
I cannot bring myself to donate purses which I have bought new and for which I paid full retail price (not a frequent occurrence. I have too many purses!
