During my brief stint teaching 2nd grade, I was told I could keep anything I wanted out of the cupboards in the classroom when I moved in. The previous teacher was retiring after a very long time and mentioned the things left were items she had paid for with her own money and I could use them for the school or keep them or toss them or whatever.
It was quite a task cleaning out the decades of paraphernalia. I ended up donating much of it to charity and using only some items in the classroom. There were a few things however that I was very happy to take home with me - a packet of vintage schoolroom posters for one.
I KNOW. Heart be still. I fell in love with these right away. I framed them and they've been hanging in my home for 10 years now...
Which one is your favorite?

What a stash.
I bet they've been a great conversation starter over the years.

Wow!
These are really beautiful to look at - but I had a very hard time seeing them just as art - it was the messages that jumped out at me. I could not just look at them for artist impressions and qualities.
My faves - Citizenship and then Play in a Safe Place. They resonate with me and occurrences in my daily life.
WHERE do you have these displayed? Are they grouped together or scattered around in areas that they might jokingly apply?
awesome find! i love the exercise! that little girl jumping rope, with that adorable hair, and that dress!? very cute!
Fabulous. I love all of them. Can't choose just one.
Maria, I know the messages are as important as the graphics. I have done various things with them over the years, grouped and cheekily placed around the house. Here in Pagoda, they are all hung in the gym. I like the clean living, exercise, play and eat right messages being in there.
I love these posters! The one of the boy in the baseball outfit speaks to me!
Oh they are fantastic- I would have framed them too!
I like the 'don't be a showoff' cuz I have two monkeys and a pool and I think that would be a good motto!
I like the baseball one as well. You can tell from the silhouette of the mitt and the uniform that it's old-school. Very cool.
I love the Cleanliness one!! These are so great jeanette
These are adorable!
those are awesome! i love the exercise one!
My fave has always been the water safety one!
That's probably because it looks like AH don't you think?
What an *amazing* treasure trove! I can't even pick a favorite, they go together so nicely (well, ok, maybe the exercise one :)) Thanks for sharing these, totally brightened my day!
Btw, yes, the Pink Martini singer sings in all those languages herself, pretty incredible :)
So cute. Love the breakfast one. These would be adorable in a kid's room! Yes, tell hubby a tree is a MUST even if you will be away. The thought of a home w/out a tree makes me sad. xo
Those are so wonderful:) I really adore vintage posters like that:) I really love the "stay healthy" one:)
Kisses,sweetie
Ps: I’m hosting a Pistacho Press GIVEAWAY today, so please join in :)
The last one is my favorite, Jeanette. The image and the wise words! HAve a happy Wednesday xxxx
they are all so cute! probably the veggies. still thinking of what to do with the old cookbook images. must say i did not know how to spell paraphernalia!
I love the little baseball player. So darling!
How wonderful the good ole' days use to be! No reason to worry about political correctness. Love the boy in a vest and the girl in a dress. I remember those days. Course I was beating up the boys who made fun of my dress :)
Definitely the Look Both Ways. That way that boy is holding the little girl's hand while the dog oversees them is precious.
You did hit the jackpot my friend...they are adorable. xoxoxo
I love these and they look awesome framed too! I tried to pick a favourite, but i love them all and each of the messages! XX
Great posters. I was just thinking the water safety one looks like AH too!
I LOVE the look both ways one.
what a score! I love the cleanliness one and the water safety the best!
my mom was a teacher too and I remember the piles of things she had accumulated over the years when she was retiring too - I wish we had hung onto more of them now. :)
These are great. I love the "play in safe place" one!
