I've mentioned before about the 4 words that my sweet husband hates to hear from me........."I have an idea". Poor poor Andrew Henry hears them quite often. You see my head is always swimming with them. I am inspired by almost everything. Usually I can't even keep up with all the dinner parties I'm scheduling, crafts I'm executing, vacations I'm organizing, menu's I'm planning, jewelry lines I'm creating, books I'm starting to write and rooms I'm redecorating blah blah. These are all only in my head you understand. Sometimes as quickly as they've come, a new one takes it place and the previous idea is packed away with the other gazillion ones occupying the ever decreasing space in my head. This often results in insomnia but that's another post.
There is one that has been nudging me for several months, whispering in my ear at first, then shouting at me and finally chasing me to the point I am worn out by it. I can't work in my office anymore. It's the smallest room in the house save the powder room and we (Andrew Henry) has modified and manipulated it over the past year but it still doesn't work for me. I spend 10-12 hours a day in here. This is just a portion of my desktop...
I am asking this little room to do perform too many functions and honestly it can't hold the ever burgeoning amount of jewelry I pile in here. It's a mountain of mayhem and that's not a good place for a girl with an alphabetized spice cupboard to work. Do you know what this means?
It means we are clearing out the gym (which is a spare bedroom that we use as a gym) and I'm setting up shop in there. We're selling the equipment because there is no more room for it. This makes me sad because I love using it but the preservation of my sanity has taken priority.
I am going to have a studio/office space with some breathing room and I'm crazy excited. I have no idea how I want it to look and for the first time, possibly in my life, I kind of wish somebody else would just come in and design and decorate it but I have control issues and a limited budget so planning I will be and executing Andrew Henry will be.
This is the counter behind me right now because the cabinets are full of more jewelry, mailing supplies etc. I don't like clutter....
seriously, something's gotta give.

That is very very exciting! I'm sure you'll love the new space :)
That is so exciting...I know the feeling. I used to have a little office in out first apartment that it just felt too small..I work from home as you and spending 10 hours in a little space just didnt work so, now in our new place I have a nice size room with huge windows..I cant wait to see photos of your new studio:) Happy Tuesday,my dear
kisses
Good luck with it, Jeanette. I totally get it, I HAVE to have things neat around me to be creative, seriously, I clean my house before I start doing any design work, otherwise I just can't deal! XX!
How exciting. Ever since I redid my office and now have space, I am so much more productive. I can't wait to see what you do.
Wow! AH - once again - my hero.
I have no office - a desk in the family room - but - my situation with these two precious little boys I love is a "eyes on always" kinda thing - so it's a must....for now.
Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Maybe you can keep some of the equipment - the treadmill? Will it fit into your current space??
Thinking of your health too, ya know :-D
I find it necessary to clear everything away now and again otherwise my brain just gets too cluttered with ideas to sort anything out. Maybe you are the same.
oooh I lovee rearranging spaces! You will have to let us know how it all works out!!
Poor hubby, he deserves a big hug haha
I know how you feel I spend much of my day in my studio and I am always wanting to change it. I have taken what is here and added all the left over pieces from other homes. It works but ....
Keep us all updated
cheers, parsnip
Yes, an uncluttered space, much better!
I would be happy to relieve you of the gym equipment but alas it would be untouched here!! Besides, poor AH would be the one having to move it to our house!
It's good for your chi. :)
Alphabetized spice rack? Oh dear - I feel so disorganized! But inspiration constantly swimming in your head I can totally relate to. I wish I were more like you and Shari - I think my head would be clearer with more room for creative thought if I could get a handle on my paper clutter!
What fun! My husband has been on a major office purge. His is WAY worse!I hope we get to see the progress.
Ohhhhh very exciting!!
Well that sounds exciting! I'm sure you will work so much better. I LOVE all your photos though, if that's your clutter, it's beautiful!
I bet you are super excited! I can't wait to see the outcome!
Uh-oh. You're inspiring me. I've been wanting to claim the little sunroom/porch off the living room as a studio for myself. I just might have to do it.
Do it Tess, then come over and do mine for me :)
Wow, what a change! I'm sure your new space will inspire you for lots of new ideas :)
you'll do great:) at least you have your "keep calm" picture to remind you to feel the peace in the midst of the mess:) you're a total inspiration.
Oh so EXCITING, Jeanette! Happy cleaning, moving around and creating! xxx
Good luck on this project! I'm a jewelry designer too. I could have written this post, the way you describe the clutter and all the stuff in your room. It's utter chaos and it makes it so uncomfortable to work in there. Yours actually looks much better than mine! I look forward to seeing your new space.

Well, so long exercise equipment, hello organized office. I know it will be great, as I have enjoyed all of your Pagoda's room tours!
How exciting that you're going to have a REAL studio space. I have always coveted a little office where I can write (or even just a writing desk in a corner of a room)--but living in an expensive city precludes extra room. I'm eager to see how it all shakes out for you. :)
Such a great idea- I look forward to hearing more about the process and of course seeing the results- It's sad about the exercise equipment but at least you live in a place that going for a walk is a year round activity!
great idea! a couple of free weights in the corner will do the trick anyway. can't wait to see the end result of the new room.
Sounds exciting Jeanette! it's so funny that your husband says that, cause' I say the same thing..."I have an idea!" And my husband, always says, "oh-oh!"
Have fun with the decorating!
What an amazing trove! Jealous! xo style, she wrote
