decisions...

Lately I'm wandering through the world of thoughts about directions for my life and so forth.  These thoughts and their enormity were feeling heavy, overwhelming, and something occurred to me - maybe these big decisions aren't the ones that impact my life so much.

Perhaps it is the little everyday choices, the quiet unseen decisions that shape our lives the most.  The hundreds of decisions we make every day should maybe be given more thought.  The choice to eat healthy food, to go to bed early, to smile at strangers, to save the last piece for someone else, to speak and to listen.  I'm kinda thinking these things are the big decisions, the ones that most directly impact our lives.  It all comes down to a quote I love, "how you spend your day is how you are spending your life"...............so very very true.

So, instead of pondering how I want this year and the next five years to go, I think I'll focus more about how to make today a little more magical.

Terrific wisdom, particularly the last quote.

Also, someone wise once told me that when they were in the midst of making a big, life determining decision, they asked the universe for a sign and the next morning there was a cluster of feathers on their step...sound familiar?

Oh so very true, and quite well stated. Such a wonderful reminder to be fully present in each moment - for you do not get them back.

Happy Thursday Everyone! Make it a purpose-FULL day!

Very wise words. It seems that focusing on the "little" decisions, the "bigger" one would have a way of working themselves out. I'm intrigued by the feather story Felicity mentioned.

The Mechtild of Magdeburg quote and today's quote give one food for thought!

I agree so much!!!
As a lady of leisure I often find myself being asked what it is I do while my monkeys are in school- And it's those moments that make my life- 'I made bread, blogged, laundry and read a great book...'
Lucky for me my husband supports my happiness and creativity- it certainly makes for a more colorful life for him and our monkeys.

I love this post. You said something that just struck a chord- it's the simplest things that truly make the biggest impact on our lives. This is spot on- I've never thought of it that way!

Thanks for the fantastic post! xoxo

This post came at such a perfect time for me. So wise! I was just reading a chapter of "Finding Water" by Julia Cameron where she said "Just do the next right thing, and the big things will take care of themselves." Hearing your message and hers on the same day is an answer to my prayers for guidance, thank you!

I have definitely been "shooting from the hip" recently regarding decisions. I am hoping things slow down a bit in a few weeks.

Another life passage for me...
