I always wanted long thick jumbles of curls, think Bernadette Peters. I never got it. I have baby fine straight hair. No matter how many 80's perms I got, it never really happened. This is the closest I ever got and it was just one day of my life. Remember this was the 1980's so please excuse the glasses, shoulder pads and well - everything else...
I know I know and the sad part is I thought I looked fantastic :) Moving on.
Luckily the 90's came and the big hair went out. I let my hair be its more natural self - straight.
Then I got bored and cut it all off...
Then I got thyroid disease and my hair changed, thinner and icky. I grew it out, hated it, cut it off. Here's where it was last month in London. Please take note of the name of the Pub behind my head - Andrew Henry took this photo with his phone - he thinks he's pretty darn funny.
See those spots on my chin??? Yep, I had SHINGLES while we were in England. I swear it really is always something with me. That's pretty short hair but I went crazy and got it cut WAY shorter. Think Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby only I'm not 23 and a size 2. I'm not sure about it yet. The good news is hair grows and the older I get, the less I care about this sort of stuff.
Are you happy with your hair?

Groovy gorgeous girl and naughty A-H you do make me giggle.
Loving your new 'do' J and hope that the effects of the shingles have well and truly gone.

Hi jeanette,
No woman is ever happy with her hair. Funny picture in London.
Hope your new shop is doing well
I love it short. It frames your beautiful face.
truthfully, I have good 80's hair... naturally :(. Although I heard 80's hair is coming back in style... maybe there is hope for me yet :)
OMG!!! You're back!! I didn't know! I've had a lot going on in the last month or so and haven't been around much. And here I find you are back! Yay! It looks like you had a wonderful time in England. Such lovely photos.
My hair? It is what it is and I'm learning to live with it. (Well, as long as there is some dye involved). It got a bit wavy after I had Abby and it took a while to figure out what to do with it. I could use a trim, that's for sure and I'm trying to grow it longer.
I love your hair in England and am curious about the new shorter 'do. I also love the 80's and 90's flashback hair. :)
Adorbs!I love your blog. Newbie here!
My hair has thinned due to some health complications. It also is now brittle and kind of course. Yuck.
I think I was happiest with my hair last summer. It was long, thick, and curly! Now where did I put that darn time machine...
Except for the 80s do - that we all know we had - I like your hair in each of these photos. But, I must admit I especially love it on you short. So - I'm guessing however short it is now - I'm gonna love it.
You make me want to slice all mine off again - but with my two - I need to be able to do the pony tali thing for a bit longer - as a baseball hat is not always a good look.
AH - you kill me!
I think Julie is right... no women is ever happy with her hair.
I too have many of the same health problems as you have with your hair. Plus with each child I seem to have lost more hair.
I have it really short and sometimes just trim it myself between cuts.
cheers, parsnip
I really adore the short look on you. Your face shines through with your hair short. I have unruly curls so it's a daily struggle:-). Loved the pics you shared from your trip too. xx
You and I... our hair... it's like twins separated at birth, lol.
My hair is baby fine as well. But mine used to have a lot of body when I was younger. Think Farrah Fawcett waves... but naturally. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. Good in the 80's, not so good now.
Anyhoo, I went through a stage where I just wanted to be different, so I cute it super short. Like a pixie cut. I wore it short for a number of years.
Then I grew it all out again and colored it every color imaginable... well, within reason in various shades of blonde, brunette and red head.
Then it got so damaged I cut it all off so it could grow out as natural and virgin-able as possible :)
Now... now I too have a thyroid issue as well and my medication makes it fall out. Plus just with age, it has lost its natural body and shine.
I am much happier now that it has grown to almost shoulder length again, I just wish it was thicker and had more volume!
I have really grown to like the short hair. You can pull it off Baby!
How fun to see these photos of you. I think it looks great short - shows off that pretty face!! And I just got my cut/color. My 'do has been the same for about 6 years now, maybe I should change it up!
Hahaha Jeanette! I LOVE this post. Makes me want to go pull out old pictures and make fun of myself. You are so pretty that it really never mattered how your hair was styled - you looked great then, you look great now. And I know what you mean about the sweet peace about hair that comes with age. I'm happy - probably not because I have a great style so much as I'm just getting old :)
oxox
Hair is pretty much a grass is greener kind of thing. But I think you look FABULOUS!! So nice to see you!!
sassy monkey...lookin good...Hey in Phoenix in the summer I say the less hair the better.
cracking up on that last Nags Head photo. love your short hair and i saw a lady in the gym yesterday with a great cut. i live in a pony tail!
You are too funny - I love that you showed us your hair from the past. My mom's was pretty similar to the first couple :) I bet you look great with your hair.
I've found that my hair isn't what it used to be. I've been trying to grow it really long but it seems to just get stuck at a certain length. So stagnant and now it's thin and brittle and I guess I can only attribute that to my vegetarian diet (although I'm more of a pescatarian now and I do take vitamins so it should be growing!)
You are so stinkin' adorable. Even in the 80's! Love the short do, too. I guess I'm just sort of neutral about my hair. It's alright, nothing special, but it does the job.
