something wicked this way comes...

You really can't imagine it.  A dust storm to end all dust storms, at least for me anyway.  Tuesday night a dust storm rolled through the valley and we were hit pretty hard.  Andrew Henry and I couldn't see across the street and in our bedroom we were inhaling the dust because is was coming through our bathroom ceiling fans and any crack or crevice it could infiltrate.  You could actually taste it in your mouth INSIDE the house.  This went on for quite some time, then the rain started a bit later which didn't really wash it away - there was more dirt than water so we woke to ridiculously dirty windows, walkways, house inside and out.

I lifted this photo from the Arizona Republic site.  This is the giant wall of DUST as it rolled over the city.

Looks a bit biblical don't you think?  Reminded me of a scene in the movie The Mummy.  Phoenix in the summer is such a place of extremes.

I think it is just an AWESOME display of the power God placed in the forces of nature. But I am TRULY sorry for the extra cleaning you'll have to do in and around the house. Maybe think of it as you'll be early for Christmas cleaning (or spring! LOL!)

So glad you are OK, dusty but OK !

What a fabulous photo though.

Didn't this happen last year too ? but I am thinking not as big ? It seem Phoenix usually get one big dust storm every summer but not like this one.
The lack of our Winter rains really effecting all of us.

I have a series of a dust, rain and lighting storm photos like this one, from a storm last year that circled around Tucson.
Once I learn how to post more than one photo I will post them.

Love the comment of @maria who said just think of it like Christmas cleaning ...

Good to hear from you !

cheers, parsnip

I went outside for about 20 seconds to make sure a couple things on the house were secure and Jeanette said I smelled like I had been working in the dirt all day!

This was a nasty one indeed.
