just call me martha...

I realized today when I was folding towels that Martha Stewart and I could totally be twins, or you know, not.  I realized this because I do not fold my towels the same way all the time.  I don't even fold them the same from one towel to the next.  I have no system.  I have a friend who told me she knows how to fold all her clothes, socks, towels etc., so they fit exactly a certain way in their respective drawers.  I wish I could be more like them, my friend and Martha, but I'm not.  I mean I'm quite happy with me but you know, we all have things we'd like to be a little better at right?   I like to think of them as an inspiration.

I would love to have M's green thumb and grow fabulous gardens and have fresh herbs at my fingertips.  I remain optimstic.  I'm so optimistic that I am still watering this plant outside my back door.  Seriously I watered it yesterday...

I would like to be annoyed by dust.  I would like to not be able to sleep until I knew there wasn't a spec of it anywhere so I would whip through like a tornado and conquer every corner of it.  You know like the bookshelves in my bedroom that take a really long time to dust so...

I got crafty with the dust.  That's kind of Martha like don't you think?

Well I can certainly relate to that! For a while I used to roll my towels and then that way they would always fit into the linen cupboard with no problem. I wonder when that plan was left by the wayside..?
As for dust, I don't stress about it anymore. And now that I'm in Dubai, it's so sandy and dusty, I would drive myself bonkers if I worried about it. Love your approach xo

Oh J - I so enjoy your sunny outlook! I so cherish you!

I have decided in my old age that there are things that can slide and then there are those things that must be done....and the Lord has used my sweet boys to help me to see that even those things can change from day to day. Its all about those moments...those ones that count...making every one count...

No one will ask me at the end how much dust was on my furniture, if my plants all lived, if my clothes were folded properly (though those things can help make my heres and nows feel less chaotic and more productive).

For me, when it all comes down, I want to have done well the things that really mattered.

Love this post...mostly because I am the same way..laughed out loud about the towels...I try to fold them all the same way but it never seems to work out. Thanks for making me smile on this Tuesday morning. Have a happy day.

hhahah I'm like the anti-Martha. I think I don't want to meet her because I would feel compelled to say Hello but completely ashamed that I do the complete opposite of what she says. And I just found your blog, and I LOVEEEE your sense of humour. Following now! :)

I love AH and MJM's comments. Actually I have a shrub I am not willing to give up on yet, sitting in a bucket, it looks somewhat like your plant...dfferent color and all twigs!
Now you know I always fold my towels the same way and my dishtowels, faceloths and dishcloths!! Once upon a time I caught dust before it even landed, not so anymore, I can wait a bit longer now :)
You might not fold towels the same way twice (so what?!) you do have the most organized ( some labeled)cupboards, closets, drawers etc! of anyone I have ever known!

You/we will always have more dust than anyone...
My son just finished building some bedroom side tables for me yesterday, this morning I see dust all over them.
But I always fold my towels the same way. Martha and I like our shelves neat and tidy.

cheers, parsnip

Go ahead and cross one thing off your to do list - the plant is dead, water is not going to bring it back.

Martha has really set the bar too high for anyone to reach. She has a lot of help though!

Great post :)
