andrew henry's world...

This is a glimpse into our past week as seen through the eyes of my husband, Andrew Henry.

Andrew Henry says:  Jeanette and I watched 8mm home movies on this in the dining room last night.  The movies, from the late 1940s and early 1950s, were not from either of our families.  Jeanette got a case of them to sell in her shop but she wanted to watch them first to make sure they were all above deck so to speak.  I set up this old projector and we made a night of it.  It was cool.

Jeanette says:  So far we have watched troops in Korea, a vacation in Hawaii, flying over the Golden Gate bridge into San Francisco, Seattle scenes, Idaho and Niagara Falls.  I loved seeing the few women and their fabulous vintage clothes.  We have many more to watch!

Here is how they looked on the wall - old school fun.

Thanks again for all the notes and kind words about the sudden passing of my cousin.
Much appreciated.  I needed the time but am ready to ease back into things now.  Looking forward to seeing what you've all been up to.

What a fun night! Reminds me of my childhood - my mom used to make 8mm movies of me when I was little. I love the thought of watching someone else's. It's even better than looking through someone else's photo album (which I love to do).

Glad some normalcy is returning. You are still in my thoughts.

I wonder who let these treasures pass through their hands. I am so pleased you found them.
I love that you have the right projector to run them.
What a hoot.
Jeanette,
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your cousin.
But happy to hear your feeling better.

cheers, parsnip

oh my what sweet pictures...can you imagine a family not keeping them???
I am thinking there would be great stills for pictures, like the one you picked of the coast line!
So sweet of you to drop over &leave your sweet comment.

The thing that is surprising me is that these old movies are in color. My Dad used to take home movies dating all the way back to the late 50's and early 60's and they all in black and white.

The smell and sound of this old projector is bringing back memories of watching our own old home movies.
