things i love thursday...

I love photography.  I started taking photos with a 110 camera when I was a little girl.  I took photography in high school and got my first real camera, a Pentax K100 for my 17th birthday, which I LOVED.  It was my constant companion while I got a Bachelor's Degree in Photography in college.

My old camera was all manual, I learned that way and I liked that way.  Then came digital.  This era of digital was new and confusing to me.  I do not possess the gadget techno gene (can barely program my phone).  We have gone through a few digital cameras but they have all been simple point and shoots.  I stopped taking artsy photos years ago - the only thing we used a camera for was vacation shots so point and shoots work well for us.  Then I started a jewelry business (and oh yes, a blog).

When your business is online, your photographs are everything.  New business means all the cashola goes for jewelry and supplies.  Almost all the images you see on this blog (and every one you see if you stop by my shop) have been taken with this simple point and shoot camera.  The only exceptions are when I use some of my older images for the Friday photos- those were probably taken with my trusty old Pentax back in the day.

The above photo was taken with Andrew Henry's phone which might actually have a nicer camera in it than my actual camera.  Don't get me wrong, I read all the comments and reviews of the digital SLR's and am counting the days until I make the decision and bite the bullet but until then, this little point and shoot camera works for me and it's the thing I love this Thursday.

What about you?  Do you have a fancy schmancy or a point and shoot?
