lgo...

Eventually, I will have taken you to all my favorite neighborhood eateries.  Someday we'll have to venture out into the city, today is not that day.  We are going 1 3/4 miles from my house.

If you're local, you know what "lgo" stands for.  Le Grande Orange Grocery is another one of my favorite neighborhood places.  It is on the corner of a street lined with houses.  It is a true "neighborhood" place.

LGO is a little market/grocery store.  It's a restaurant.  It has great food.  It has cool design.  It's always packed.  It's an institution.  It's great.  It's where we're going today.  Buckle up.

Let's go inside and take a look around the little grocery/shopping areas...

Uh oh, these might be coming up on things i love thursday this week.  I didn't know you could buy them here, and they have little baby ones - I might be in trouble...

I took photos of the menu signs from both ends.  I like the shot in color and black/white so I'm giving you both, so much love today.  As is always the case here at Everton Terrace, you can click on any image to enlarge it (if you want to try and read the food options).

We should probably order now...

I would like to pause here for a moment to mention one of the two things my gluten-free body misses most at LGO.  Perhaps not my body, my body is very happy I don't eat them.  It's my tongue, specifically my tastebuds, that weep at the sight of these divine crepes...

The have cool lamps and artwork at LGO.  I know it might be a weird thing to mention, but I'm a little different so whatever...

What appear to be vintage, french, handwritten menu pages, framed and on the wall.  My heart is always happy when I see original things framed on a wall.  I would like to rid the world of mass produced art.

Now, the only reason I was able to take these photos for you without 5 million people in them, is because we got there right as they opened...

If you come back in the evening, you can order some of this....

It's good pizza.  I remember it from "before".  Many foods are in my before category.  I imagine most people with Celiac Disease have a list like this.  A take-out LGO pizza was the first meal Andrew Henry and I ate in Pagoda.  AH insists their Green Chili Burger is the best hamburger in town.  This vegetarian will take his word for it.

This last image is for the daughter.  I believe this is her favorite thing from LGO.  I sent a bag for her birthday.  I must agree with her.  These homemade english muffins are what my gluten-free tastebuds miss most from Le Grande Orange.

I think I'll need a moment.

Wow! This far past lunch for me and not a bite to eat yet (yep - missed breakfast - unless you count coffee) so THIS was TORTURE! What a lovely, lovely place! Wish we had one! Love the name! Would be perfect for FL!! You've done it again, my dear - kudos all the way 'round! Now - where is that peanut butter!

Maria, if you ever make it out to Phoenix we will take you here. It is super! The pizza is also one of the best in town. The burger is so good I can't do it justice.

Not even Radio Milano? Which, I'm almost scared to tell you, has changed from a restaurant to a bar and no longer has dinner???? Take a moment for yourself.

You're really starting to fill up my "things and places to see if ever I go to Phoenix" folder. In fact, you are responsible for almost the entire folder! Love the looks of this place. Never had a homemade english muffin but I'm curious.
