things i love thursday...

I don't sell ALL the vintage jewelry I find.  A few little dribbles find their way into my jewelry box, and by a few little dribbles, I mostly mean vintage hair clips/pins.  I love them.  They just don't make them like this anymore.  My favorite (and most often worn) is the little flower one.  At first, I thought it was too young for me, then I decided I could be a hair clip cougar!

I wore my hair long for years but about two years ago, I walked into the salon in the middle of summer and said "cut it all off, I'm boiling!".  She did, and I LOVE it.  Now that it's short (super duper short), bring on the vintage bobby pins and clips!

Have you ever drastically changed your hair on a whim?

We've got a different sort of "thing" coming up in just a bit...

Oh yes - many times I have changed my hair on a whim - thankful that my hubby is good with change. He says it's like coming home to a surprise girlfriend - he never knows who he is going to get, but likes who he finds. (good answer?Hmmmm) My philosophy has always been that hair is an accessory - to be changed with you. Hopefully I am not the same year after year (or even day after day) so my hair should reflect that, right? I have drastically changed color, length, style - many, many, many times over the years. I think it's fun.

I too love these kinds of hair clips and recently took to wearing a daisy - though I'm not sure it qualifies me for your kind of chic - I like it and my little guys love it when mommy wears flowers in her hair (of course - the littlest pulls them out - a lot!)

Yes. When young I was blonde. As a teenager I was dishwater blonde, you know, neither this nor that! Don't rememeber what I used but next thing I was a flaming redhead! Oops! My mother wasn't at all pleased especially since I was still in school. A couple of months after that (still a redhead) one of my older sisters decided my hair would look good blonde. I don't remember what she used on my hair but it ended up nice and orange! The rest of the story is that in order to remove the dye she had to use so much lightener that I ended up with something the color and texture of straw. My dad paid for me to go to a professional hairdresser and have the 'mousey' look returned!

I have very dark hair, at 19 I dyed it blonde not on a whim but on a dare. Thought I looked so sexy but I know from looking at pictures, I looked a like a poorly matched outfit. Bad hair year, very bad.

Yes, I was getting ready to go to a teen dance. I decided I needed a 'haircut'. I did go to the dance, I stayed in the restroom. Think I learned my lesson. Love your hairclips.

After many years of being blonde, I once changed my hair to auburn. The children were in bed asleep. Next morning my youngest son, then approx. 5 years old, came into my bedroom as usual, stood looking at me strangely and said "where is my mommy?" It took me a couple of seconds to understand that he really didn't recognise me. It wasn't until I said "This is your mommy" that I got my usual morning cuddle. I didn't stay auburn for long.

I have changed my hair on a whim a few times, but turns out, per usual, my mother is always right. I shouldn't change my hair.

You shouldn't change anything - you are so lovely just the way you are.

I have tried to drastically change my hair on a whim - the number of times I've asked a hair stylist to cut my hair short is numerous, but somehow they always take off a couple of inches and convince me to keep it like that.

And I love the flower hair clip - I'm sure you rock it!

Who could forget the perm in the 70's !!!! masses of tight curls on formerly long straight hair. I ended up with so many curls that I was sitting up on an incline when I layed down to go to sleep...huge afro like thing...

Here's a shocker. I've never made a drastic change to my hair.

If it weren't for my wife, it would still be the same haircut as I started with in grammar school.

But AH - your wife has helped you find the perfect, timeless sort of cut, and then there is the fact that handsome just never goes out of style!

You hair clip cougar you! I've drastically changed my hair many times. But you know this...you used to be surprised when I showed up twice with the same hair color :)

i have been a redhead and LOVED it. i would love to have GRACE's hair on will and grace. just hard to keep up with the color. and recently i tried to SAVE money and went to a chain for some highlights, didn't like it, so i tried to fix it on my own. i think i am pretty talented. NOT. it was terrible and my husband, who is COLOR BLIND, said 'yeah, you really need to get that fixed.' so i have spent WAY too much money trying to fix it. argh. but the great thing about hair is that it keeps growing!
