pagoda 12...

This is the 12th post in the (semi-weekly, okay maybe more like kinda monthly) Wednesday morning "Pagoda" series which chronicles the almost 5 years we spent turning a 1970's Pagoda house into our home. Last time we took a look at our daughter's bedroom and this post we'll wander into the bathroom that joins her room with another bedroom, "a jack and jill" bathroom if you will.

This is the best I could do with the "before".  We took this room and a hallway, moved some walls, closed a doorway, opened some new doorways and created a bathroom you can enter from two seperate bedrooms.  The only thing that remains is the placement of the old toilet - see it down there at the end of this before photo...

here it is now...

We created this little room that houses the toilet and the shower. The skylight throws a lovely shaft of light and I'd like to add that I cut, sanded and stained all these wood slats on the wall - whatever...

I am very fond of the shower floor (weird photo - looks like tar but it's actually cool riverock)...

remembered to put cutouts for all the stuff a girl needs in the shower...

Now, outside the toilet shower area is the sink/common area that you can enter from either bedroom...

My favortie part of any room - the artwork.  I hung my collection of Harold Altman etchings in here.  He he, my "collection" consists of a whopping 3 pieces but it makes me happy to think I have a "collection" of etchings so let's go with that...

We're very happy with how it all came out but you know that yellow toilet was kinda cool...

in a retro kind of way.

WOW! There as SO many things I LOVE about this bathroom - WAY too many to list. I believe I officially have shower envy!

I think once in, I would never leave - toss out a sleeping bag or pull in a cot - and order out for food ~ ahhh gotta be close to Heaven!

Alas, I do not think this Jill could be persuaded to share it with Jack!

(I can't wait to hear what Henley has to say - if only about the size of this little kingdom! ;-D)

J - You have exquisite taste!

Fabulous. I love every bit of it. The river rock and the gorgeous tiles are just perfect. As soon as the last one finishes college, the manor master bath is getting a sorely needed redo!

This right here is my dream bathroom. I am soooo jealous. We are going to remodel our jack and jill bathroom soon, unfortunatley we do not have much space to do something so amazing.

I've said it before and it bears repeating, your work (and AH's)should be featured in a magazine! This bathroom is absolutely awesome!

The transformation is remarkable. I just can't get over it. You should design spas or something. I also cannot believe this isn't your master bath, what must that look like?!

Hope you are having a great week!

La Dolfina - I saw your post and left a comment, thank you for the kind mention and I'm glad you were inspired!
Alas, my daughter lives in Seattle on only uses this bathroom when she "visits". It is our guest bathroom mostly.

I think I'm starting to just expect each of your rooms to blow me away. What I am insanely jealous of is your "collection". Altman is a widely known and very collectible artist, even more so since his death in 2003. You do have quite the eye and if you ever tire of those prints, please call me. If you say you snatched them up at one of your estate sales I'll just die.

The before and after still really amaze me. Like I said before "what were you thinking?" Now I say "Oh that's what you were thinking." Never underestimate the possibilities of a pagoda!

Love your bathroom and the etchings -The rocks on the base of the shower are great- I have been wishing for this- does it feel like your feet are being massaged? That is what I imagine!

Your daughter and I share MANY of the same shower products- at least the companies- but I love Philosophy, Keihls and the TJ shaving cream.

Have a great day!

Excellent photos!

The only design aspect I can take some credit for is the skylight. The rest is pretty much all Jeanette!
