sweet dreams...

I always take something sweet to our Friday night card game and last week while blog rolling, I came across an interesting looking recipe for something called "Raspberry financiers" on the new to me blog Darjeeling Dreams so I gave it a go.

I cheated a bit here and there.  Used already ground almonds ('cause I had them and it's much easier), substituted frozen dark black cherries for the raspberries (didn't have raspberries) and added some rum flavored powdered sugar frosting - 'cause everything is better with a little extra frosting.  They were fairly easy to whip up, except for putting the parchment paper in the pan part, that was a bit comical for me but I eventually got it and they came out quite nicely.

We'll have to take Andrew Henry's word for it though because I couldn't eat them...

Don't cry for this gluten-free girl.  I made up for it the next day.  Andrew Henry and I went to a local eatery and shared the most delightful treat.  This is called the  "Dolce Della Casa" (sexy no?)...

it's very warm and the inside is filled with Nutella and bananas...

and it's worth every minute on the treadmill!

What's your favorite dessert?

You are a cooking/baking goddess! I've been sitting here trying to think of my favorite dessert and I realise I have many! I think I'll go with Bananas Foster or perhaps Banana Crepes from Red's or the Coconut Cake at Dahl and DiLuca, or or! :)

Definately jamocha almond fudge/chocolate chip mint ice cream.Pour milk over it, drink the excess milk, then put the dessert back in the freezer for about 15 minutes. Remove the ice cream, sit down in front of the t.v. and enjoy the crunchy ice cream. This should all be done after your kids are in bed and fast asleep!

If I had to pick one dessert it would be ice cream. But I love baked goods as well. Ginger bread, lemon anything, vanilla cupcakes, cheesecake and simple cakes like french yogurt cake. Oh and key lime pie. :)

Thanks for stopping by Dovecote Decor. Its fun to flit around and visit my blog friends. I hate to taunt a gluten free girl, but hands down, I love bread pudding. I also love A Wrinkle in Time, and have read all M.E.'s other books too.

I don't like most desserts, but my favorite would either be my mom's fort knox pie, bread pudding or that particular dessert she featured on here today!

But you don't like bananas...

I had NO idea that Trader Joe's carried almond meal. I use it when making French Macarons and have been paying an arm and a leg. Thanks!

I'm really impressed that you make your own French Macarons!

This concoction is one of my favorites. The aforementioned (by the daughter) Fort Knox Pie is also up there. So is banana cream pie (both whipped up by our host).

That looks delicious - and I love the idea of Friday night card games.

I wish my friends played cards.

Sigh.

Oh YUM! Good old-fashioned warm applepie with a big fat dollop of whipped cream would have to be my favourite.

I quit eating most gluten at New Year's last year. I can't believe how much better my stomach feels (and looks). Every now and then I indulge ... and puff up from the experience almost right away.

Favorite dessert? Creme brulee!

Ooo, your financiers look fantastic. The black cherries are a nice touch...I haven't bought any cherries this year. Its really fantastic to hear of someone else trying out a recipe that I posted :)
I have to try making a gluten-free dessert for a friend that has a gluten allergy. I think something with chocolate...everyone seems to like chocolate.
I can't decide upon a single dessert as my favorite..its too hard. I guess the dessert that I've made the most often is a green tea tart from Eric Kayser's book...its like a financier turned into a cake and flavored with matcha.

That Italian dessert looks so tempting!

I am fascinated by the parchment paper forms. McDonald's makes muffins here that way.

My favorite dessert is either Anna Torte at Demel's or an apple or muscat grape strudel.

You will eat any food that has Nutella, didn't even know what it was till I met you.
