things i love thursday...

I don't like to drink milk.  Wait, let me rephrase, I WON'T drink milk.  It completely grosses me out.  I will eat cheese, yogurt, ice-cream and other things made with milk but the thought of a glass full of milk makes me gag - go figure.    I've tried soy milk but it does nothing for me.

This brings us to the thing I love this Thursday.  This almond milk is quite nice and I like the idea of something that comes from almonds much more than something that came out of a cow (I know I'm weird and the only one who feels this way in my family).

I wouldn't drink a glass of it or anything but I put it on my oatmeal and I loved it.  It's kind of thick.  Andrew Henry puts it on cereal and he likes it as well but he adds an ice cube to thin it out a bit and keep it cold.

I was so excited about this new find that I picked up this gluten-free cereal.  It looked like rice crispy things - innocent enough...

Blech, blech, double blech!  They are some chocolate flavored somethings and I spit them right out.  I should have known from that crazed looking Koala but I was in a "must find something to put this yummy almond milk on" stupor.

Do you like milk?

Hi! Have popped over from Willow's site, drawn by the name of your blog as my mother's maiden name was Everton.
As the wife of a dairy farmer I should like milk, but like you I find it impossible to drink and much prefer mu tea as it comes.
Call in and see me sometime.

Yes, but only organic. Anything else tastes like petroleum. And we are also really big fans of Almond milk. We go back and forth. Use them in smoothies along with yogurt. Don't like the Almond milk in coffee though. But if the subject is cookie, then the dynamic duo INSISTS on cow's milk - and I only buy the full fat - those skinny minis need it with all the calories they burn in any given minute :-D Mom defers to the lower fat Almond milk - cuz that's the good fat!

I only put milk on my cereal, but you're right about that crazy gorilla. That cereal was bound to be weird.

That cereal cracks me up lol.

I don't drink milk either, I will use it on cereal and I love other dairy products but I am pretty much the same way.

LOVE milk. Love it! I always have. Especially cream top or even raw milk. But I love almond milk too. And soymilk, but it is usually heavily processed and full of sugar so I try to avoid it. When I was pregnant with Abby I went through a gallon of milk every 2-3 days. It was all I wanted. My husband said it was my viking blood. Hmmm, maybe that's why she was 10 lbs.

Trader Joe's has another brand of almond milk (Blue Diamond?) that comes in the rectangle cartons on the shelves where they keep the soy milk (unrefridgerated) that isn't thick at all. I think it was the low fat, but I can't be sure. And it's really tasty. I'd happily drink a glass. And it is amazing in smoothies.

I was going to say I don't drink milk but remembered that when eating at a Mexican Food Restaurant I usually have milk with my meal, advice given me by a Mexican friend many years ago. I do use whole milk in my tea.
I use plain, unsweetened, soy milk on my Puffed Kashi, yum, have just finished my breakfast.
I've never heard of Everton as a last name, how interesting!

MMMM, I have had almond milk before and it is really tasty. I am the same, its hard for me to down a glass of milk, but I love all things dairy related. I can only drink milk if it involved oreo cookies and lots of dunking!!

I haven't even heard of almond milk! I will have to give it a try. I do like milk, but I hate to watch other people eat dairy products like yogurt, ice cream etc. That totally grosses me out!

Luvs!

I don't like the taste of milk either, but I will drink chocolate milk. I think the milk flavor gets hidden by the chocolate. lol

you eat the same cereal my monkey does- he had the panda this a.m.

I am not a huge fan of milk- I agree the idea of where it comes from is gross-

One of my monkeys only drinks soy- then went from breast- to formula to soya-

I think it is healthier- I don't like the idea of my monkeys (or me) getting hormones so have always bought organic.

Cheese, especially stinky cheese- that I could not live w/o

Fun post, Jeanette. I only drink milk, much hot milk, in my latte. Your post made me think of the school milk we had to drink. Oh, it was so soooo not tasty, always a bit warm, iehh, must not think of that.
Have a lovely day. xxx

You know (if my memory serves me right), we are the only animal to continue drinking milk after the weaning process. We just keep chugging it down-I love it, especially with a big heaping of chocolate syrup, mmm mmm good. But, you don't see any of the four legged kind sippin' on some white stuff whether it be rice, almond, cow, etc etc.I probably got the info from NatGeo.

I don't know how you could say such a mean thing to such an adorable koala.

Though I do like milk, so clearly we're just different people.
