This is the 16th post in the semi-weekly (okay maybe sometimes more like monthly) Wednesday Pagoda series which chronicles the almost 5 years we spent turning the 1970's house we bought "as is" into our home - which we call "Pagoda".
Last time we walked around the kitchen. This week is a bit busy for me so we're going to look at our entryway, not really a room but the first thing you see when you enter our home so it seems fairly important.
This is the only image I have of the old front door - taken from the inside. We took these when we first came to view the house...
Yikes right? Let's get rid of that red door (save those fish handles), pop it out a bit, tear out the 40 year old yellow shag, ditch the panelling and store the cool shoji screens in the garage because someday you might want them. Here's what we came up with...
The lights are a cluster of 5 of these pendants from Ikea. I'm always bargain shopping.
The artwork is a collage of black and white family snapshots, not prizewinning pieces, just some family fun. All sorts of images of our life. I love walking by it, it's right outside my office. I like the things in a house that make it uniquely your own - they change it from a house to a home. I should put a bench under those photos no?
Each image is in a borderless 5x7 frame. Most of them involve our daughter - only child and all...
Lots of goofy stuff 'cause that's kind of how we roll around here - laughing and kissing...
Kissing is always good.

I love it, if I got to walk by that every day I would never be seen without a smile on my face.
Your entryway is lovely...the collage and the pendant lights both look great.
Perfect. Picture perfect. Love it all.
That black and white collage and those lights are so amazing. I'm even more amazed seeing how it looked before (ah, 40 year old yellow shag!). This so epitomizes what people mean when they say turn your house into a home - beautiful!
That is such a beautiful entry and the photo wall is so pretty. I always wanted a great frame wall. Thanks for the amazing inspiration:)
Kisses, my dear
Ps: I’m hosting a sweet t-shirt GIVEAWAY today, so please join in
Nice job. Look for the clown shot in the photos. It's my favorite. It's kind of like Where's Waldo.
I love the cluster of pendant lights, and your lovely family photos, of course! You are so talented, Jeanette! XX!
Kissing is Always good :-D
Love the collage - yes to the bench underneath.
Lovely entry - understated and yet so inviting - and tidy, and clean, and, and.....
Not so clean Maria - that rug is covered in dog hair right now from my current babysitting gig.
That photo collage is in my top 3 favorite things in the house... Even though I look ridiculous in all those photos. But that's family, right? :)
your home is breathtaking.

I agree (about the kissing) and am blown away by your transformation of the pagoda! All so good!!!!!

Oh wow you did an amazing job! I absolutely LOVE the artwork on the wall. I might have to steal that idea ;)
I can't believe this! Your home is clearly so incredibly beautiful, and that black and white photo collage is an excellent idea that I might very well steal! They are literally all individual frames??
