I love the long shadows of winter. The light right now is gorgeous. I get a little choked up when I go outside. I know that sounds crazy but it's fabulous and taking note of it brings me some serenity during the chaos of everything else going on. I snapped a couple shots for you...
That photo on the left is the flowering bouganvilla on my wall, it's beautiful but now that I'm looking at how close it is to our Christmas lights I'm wondering...........could that be a fire hazard???
This is our front porch at 10:00 a.m., doesn't it make you want to sit there and just breathe? It's a soft almost glowing light - we get a lot of harsh light here in the desert so this is a nice break for us...
or here in my bedroom - makes me want to curl up with a good book...
this is what is happening around 4:00 p.m. every afternoon. I did nothing to this photo, that's just the blinding sunlight streaming in each afternoon, it's the view from here at my desk - delicious..
Speaking of light. Here is a rather poor quality photo I took of the crazy moon Monday night. I didn't use a flash so I have no explanation for that weird light that looks like it's going from the moon, to me and then off into space. Must have been me moving or something
The winter light, take a moment and soak it in.
What lovely light...and amazing weather. We're going through a series of rain storms (I think it was on CNN)...and its gray and wet here. I'm a bit jealous.
I love making little mental-notes to myself too and I have to say that I would love to share a cup of coffee with you on that amazing porch! The light in each photo is so stunning! Enjoy your day, darling
Merry Christmas to you and yours! xx
I am loving this rain!
I've such a weakness for lovely patches of light and yours wonderful. I feel much more relaxed just looking! Thanks for sharing this today, it was just the dose of peacefulness I needed!
Hope all is progressing well amidst holidays!
From minus five here - that all looks so good and so tempting.
Did I leave a comment? Oh I am losing it. :)
minus minus minus snow snow cold cold but lovely here in Amsterdam on the way to more snow, cold and lovely things in the Alpes. Have a wonderful Christmas
Jeanette this was a truly lovely post! Thank you
Love this! I think the afternoon light view from you desk and the moon light are the best! We had that moon here just LAST night - crazy HUGE! ps - those cranes in your bedroom - to DIE for! Wouldn't my boys go crazy for those!!!
Oh Maria aren't the wonderful. They belonged to AH's father - will have to post about them sometime.
Whoa. You really DID capture the dragon-arrow. Incredible.
Love your house - it looks so bright and cozy.
Hey happy solstice Jeanette!
Beautiful photos! Love the sun streaming through the windows! It's like a little ray from Heaven reaching down. xo
So beautiful Jeanette.
Slowing down and breathing...
I love your yellow patio furniture. So cheery!
Oh I would so love to sit in the sunshine today!
Sending you Christmas blessings of love...joy...and peace my sweet friend. xoxoxo
There was a lunar eclipse on Mon. night, the next one is in a few hundred years! Wonder if the eclipse had something to do with your strange light.
I also love winter light and shadows!
I love 'Pagoda' in the window.
Really cold and wet here but I see some blue sky.
LOVE the winter light. Especially sunrise and sunset. Love the long angular shadows. You are right. It's our unrelenting, unyeilding, in-your-face summers that really make you appreciate these times.
How beautiful. We don't have summers like you do, so I can appreciate the different light we get year round. This sort is my favorite though.
that light does look extremely inviting... and last nights moon shot looks very cool! Isn't it weird how sometimes light like that does weird things? I have a photo from December a few years ago that looks like I have a HUGE diamond ring on my ring finger and I wasn't wearing any jewelry.
Oh I love your leather chair- it looks so inviting.
Hope all is well!
These photos are gorgeous! I love the look of the light around your house...it's seems so inviting but at the same time, I would hate to disturb the peacefulness.
Amazing light! I'm a huge light lover too... I cannot even imagine living in a dark house. Thanks so much for your visit and comment!!!
Great shots. I tried to shoot the moon last night but a BIG gynormous street light interrupted my photo. Tear.
how beautiful... the color of that bougainvillea is gorgeous!
i love the bougainvillea, there is a variety that i wanted to stop and take a pic. of the other day.
happy winter solstice. maybe that was the light of the moon talking! p.s. learned 2 new spellings today.
I can see why you'd get a bit choked up. It's beautiful where you are and the play of the light is amazing! Love these shots! I'm sure you must be having a fab time with your daughter being home:-). Enjoy every minute:-) XX
Such lovely light - and I love whatever happened in that last shot!
Beautiful photos. By looking at these, you are surrounded by warm and beautiful things and people!! Happy holidays!
