she read, she saw

This is my weekly Friday feature.  I send my daughter, who is living in Seattle while she is in school, a photograph I've taken and she sends me back a quote she feels goes with it.  So the image is something I photographed that touched me and the words are something she read that touched her.  Hopefully, both pieces will be a bit more inspiring as a result...

"Science has explained nothing. The more we know, the more fantastic the world becomes, and the profounder the surrounding darkness." -Aldous Huxley

Side note: when my daughter sent me the quote she mentioned to me that Aldous Huxley is one her favorite writers, grandson of her favorite scientist.  Gotta say, I do not have a favorite scientist.  I know we're related but sometimes I do wonder how it is I raised this delightfully quirky girl that has a favorite scientist.

I don't blog on the weekends but I hope you have a good one and I'll see you on Monday

Fabulous paring!
I laughed at your comment about MJM having a favorite scientist - she and BAM may be a bit alike - b/c even at 6, he has a favorite inventor and artist, DaVinci, and has specific pieces of art and inventions of his to which he is partial. I hope it points to him becoming as wonderfully quirky as M :-D

Thanks Diane I'm certain it will thrill her to no end that you think of the quotes for days. I'll send you a print if you'd like.

M - yes I think they are very much alike :)

I'm so tickled when people like my choice! Thank you! Also, my favorite scientist is Thomas Henry Huxley, for the record. He was spunky.

very cool ship photo. and i don't have a favorite scientist either. did enjoy doing some book reports on them as a child.
i do enjoy science shows - love 'mystery diagnosis' it always intrigues me!
stamps look fun. if i can put my name in the hat for one, we do stamping here for cards. 4 year olds enjoy things like that.

I love this idea you have! My oldest daughter (36) is much like me. The other one (32) is like her father. I guess they just turn out like they turn out!

LOVE that your daughter has a favorite scientist! Abby has a favorite author (Arnold Lobel) and a favorite "cooker lady" (Sophie Dahl). I wonder if she'll have a favorite scientist too someday. ;) Anyway, what a gorgeous photo, Jeanette. And great quote as well. You've been posting quotes that really speak to me lately. The two that have been running through my head daily since reading them here are the one about a fish can't drown in water and the one about how you spend your days is how you spend your life. I love today's quote even more knowing that Huxley's grandfather was a scientist! Too funny!
