loose ends...

Some blog lovin' to go around.

Before I left on my trip I again met another blogger.  Linda, of  "Round the Labyrinth I go", came to Phoenix to visit her sister and lucky me - she contacted me to meet.  Linda said it was like meeting a friend waiting to be found and I felt the same - we could have talked for hours more.   Can't wait to meet up with her again.

When I got home the Exotic Taste Orientalist Interiors book I won was here waiting for me - so timely to come home from China and find it.  Made me smile - thanks again Hampton Hostess!

For our "try one new thing a month" resolution, I took advice from fellow blogger Krystal over at Village and made her tomato soup suggestion.  This was the first time I have ever made tomato soup but the much bigger deal is.....................this is the first time I have ever tasted tomato soup.  I liked it!  There were 3 separate explosions of soup while trying to puree, involving LOTS of clean up (it was even on the walls) and me walking out of the kitchen once because I thought I would cry the 3rd time it happened (oh and I burned my finger) but I did it and I will do it again.  Think I'll add some homemade garlic croutons and a sprinkle of cheese next time - yum!

Have you tried anything new this month?

PS - and for all the people who asked yesterday, yes my adorable husband makes the bed every morning, but remember the guy hates to cook.  Doesn't even want to make toast.  I'll make the toast and he can make the bed.

Courage, Jeanette, with the soups and cooking! As long as you are having fun; I am a very messy cook and love to have someone come after me to clean. I've been experimenting with chocolate mousse; recipe in the next day....ps if you want any of the red check jar covers let me know and I will pop some in the mail for your daughter's sauce....

I roasted my own tomatoes and of course packed the in olive oil and they were so much better that store bought.
But....
what was even better was you take all the tomato "guts" that are left over chop them up with some cucumber, sugar, vinegar, a splash of water a small pepper and you have the best relish. So good over salad too, no oil ! I like this even more that the oven roasted tomatoes !

cheers, parsnip

Hooray for new things! Hurray for explosions in the kitchen - some of the best things are discovered that way! Yes - tried something new! Took my mother's peach cobbler recipe (which I LOVE) and adapted it to my eldest son's GFCF diet...perfection! We ALL loved it! Can't wait to make it again! Hooray!
