she read, she saw...

This is my weekly Friday feature. I send my daughter, who is finishing up her third year of law school in Seattle, WA, a photograph I took and she picks a quote to go with it.  So the image is something I photographed that touched me and the words are something she read that touched her. Hopefully, both pieces will be a bit more inspiring as a result...

"It is not just about seeing the new; it is also about leaving behind. Not just opening doors; also closing them behind you, never to return. But the place you have left forever is always there for you to see whenever you shut your eyes." -Jan Myrdal

This is what my daughter said in the email she sent me with the quote, "I struggled with this one. I went through loneliness, change, abandonment... I finally settled on a moving on theme, but they were all too sad. But this photo does make me sad..."  I liked her thoughts on her selection, thought you would as well.

Photo info:  I took this in Wisconsin a few years ago.  It is a peek through the window of the high school my father attended.  There it was, empty and abandoned, I imagined it bustling and full of life.  My old high school is empty now as well.  It looked similar to this one.

Yes, it is a sad scene however I do like the chosen quote.
I'm so glad I toured the school when it was full of life!

One bit of good news is that while we were looking at the old school, we met a man who was in the process of buying it. He told us they were going to be breathing new life back into part of it and plan to be using it for classes once again.

It does look run down but somehow silvery as though there is hope. Lovely quote.

I'd like to think all those who went to school there had that as their starting guide on a path to great lives.
