I love photographs.
My daughter loves words.
I choose a photograph I have taken and she chooses a quote to pair with it.
Hopefully, together, they are a little more meaningful.
"Every man's work, whether it be literature, or music or pictures or architecture or anything else, is always a portrait of himself."
-Samuel Butler
Photo info: I honestly can't remember where I took this one. I think it was in Chicago, perhaps outside the train station (anyone?) sometime back in the 1990s. I wish I would have moved over a little to the left and captured the face on the top of the other column.

......and if it isn't, it should be!
Happy Weekend! We are all excited for our big move tomorrow! See you all Monday! :-)
i love that combo!
We are so much alike. I found that when I returned from Paris I had so many photos of architectural details. I love the quote your daughter chose and it's so true. It applies to blogging, doesn't it? xo
I do like architecture, love the photo! Perfect pairing!
Wonderful !
I love @Maria comment !
It does look like something that could be in Chicago.
I was born there and love that city.
As you know living out here in the Southwest we miss out on the great ornate public buildings in the Beaux-Arts, Neo-Renaissance style.
Have a lovely weekend, hope we get some rain.
cheers, parsnip
Lovely photo and quote.
I remember a blog site once that featured photos of all the architecturally stunning railway stations that were once part of the U.S. landscape, but are no more. Classic architecture often given way to parking lots or high-rise.
With only five states here in Australia, the capital cities have some great railway stations, but architecturally nowhere near what was contributed to your country with its rich railway history.
Great photo and quote!! Wow I thought that was a roman column.
Love the photo and quote!
nice one!
