st. francis...

It was a lovely weekend with the daughter home.  Thank you all for your well wishes.  Went by too fast but we won't dwell.  Thanksgiving will be here before we know it and she'll be home again so I'm focusing on that.

There was shopping (duh), lunch with a childhood friend, cards with our neighbors (who are also our dear friends), thrifting, estate sales and an auction (will expand on those tomorrow), talking, laughing and eating.

There is always eating.  We went to a restaurant for dinner that we'd been to before but was new to the daughter.  It's quite charming and she loved it so I thought I'd share a few images with you because really, who doesn't love food?

Cute place - converted building with all the special touches.  Look at this silverware they've pressed into the concrete wall...

Nice touch I think.  I also love the old brick.  I realize many of you who live in older cities see this all the time but me, not so much.  We ate upstairs.  Let's go...

 Did someone say eat?

There was breakfast for dinner for my Dad...

Good old fashioned burger and fries for Andrew Henry...

Seven vegetable spicy rice for my Mom...

Pot roast for the daughter (obviously she is not a vegetarian like her mother)...

and Buffalo Mozzarella with cherries and figs for moi...

Oh.  I'm sorry.  There was also dessert.  I lost my head and didn't think to take a photo for you.  It happens.  I mean, I love you, but not as much as that toffee pudding masterpiece.

Which dish would you have ordered?

whoa, whoa, whoa...wait a minute. it's not fair to show juicy photos of food like this before i've had breakfast! wow is all i have to say. Yes, the food looks amazing, but also clean and fresh and simple, but i think it's your photography of the meals that really do it justice. this is better than Bon Appetit....

It's always extra hard for me when my daughter leaves. Nothing like the friendship between a mother and grown daughter ... but you're right: Thanksgiving is just around the corner :)

I just wanted to let you know I have a Polyvore Challenge on my blog – - the grand prize is a $1,000 Visa Gift Certificate!! We could all use a little extra cash, right? So get over here and win it, lol :)

I'm not a vegetarian but your dish looks the best to me. Cheese...yum! Oh, and we have lots of brick walls around these parts, but I never tire of them. :)

If I had to do it all over again (and I would like to), I would go with the same. Very good!

How great that silverware looks in the wall like that. What a great idea that was of whoever designed it.

I would go back 3 times, order one for me and have the hubby order another and share. That way we'd get to try all 6 (I included dessert!)
Yum!

At this time of day I would order the burger and fries, but it all looks so good.

I love the silveware pressed into the cement.
