what a city...

My daughter has been in Washington D.C. for several weeks now.  The city has seduced her and now that I've visited, I can see why.  Fabulous architecture, great public transportation, some delicious food, quaint shops, charming homes, museums, monuments etc etc.  Two things that also stood out were how clean the city was and how friendly the people are.  Seriously, crazy friendly.  From the metro attendants to cashiers, wait staff and general passers by, I kind of felt like they were all drinking the happy kool aid.

As usual, just sharing some shots I took on the trip.  You know I do love ceilings...

the details you just don't see anymore...

buildings and sculptures...

Then there was this.  I saw a lonely shoe as I went by in the bus, it just struck me...

Oh I cannot wait to go back in September.  Have you been?

The one and only time I was in Washington D.C was as a young teen as a tourist on a whirlwind whistle-stop holiday of your marvelous country.

I must say that the two days spent there were amazing [or as my brother says I always pronounce it AH-mazing!] and I'd love to return one day. Shame the flight is so far from Oz to the US.

Thank you for sharing your tour, it's almost as good as if I were there and we enjoy the same things - my neck is constantly crooked to look at ceilings too.

Happy day!

xx Felicity

Great photos. Have I been to Washington D.C? Yes, 33 years ago as a 25 year old on her first trip overseas. Very hurried stop-over though, when there was the rest of your big country to see.

I so enjoyed my visit to Washington and I was amazed by the ceilings. I so agree with your assessment of he city and the people, Lovely !
My highlight was a private tour of the White House and our Christmas card that year had a picture of us standing in the Oval Office.
That is one trip I can never forget.

You get to go back in September ? you will be a local in no time !

cheers, parsnip

Oh yeah, I know ALL those places very well. Beautiful pics.

DC is a gorgeous city, also not so gorgeous depending on the neighborhood. Friendly, yes, except when it isn't. It's a city of extremes.

Can't wait to see you here in September!

It is a great place! Loved it! Thinking of a return trip with dad, when the weather cools a bit. Fabulous shots, as always! You should open a new Etsy shop, offering your wonderful photography!
