yearly declaration...

As you know, Andrew Henry and I both have September birthdays.  Each September we declare it our "year of....".  It's kind of like a New Year's Resolution.  We pick some sort of theme and try to weave that into our year.  Last year was our year of  adventure, which led me to start this blog and my Etsy shop.  What an adventure it has been.

This year we tossed around some ideas and they were all okay but none of them were speaking to me.  We settled on the year of "the road less travelled" and I love it!  It's nothing major just us doing the things we usually, do but in a different way - breaking out of our normal routine.

For instance on Sunday we went for a morning walk and took a totally new route.  It was nice, saw things we hadn't noticed before.  We drank our orange juice out of wine glasses at breakfast and I've been listening to different music this week.  Same life, just tweaked a little.  So far, so good.

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes." - Proust

Have a great weekend and a safe Halloween - see you Monday!

I love it! I have a friend who signs every birthday card to everyone she knows every year with "This is the year of your life." It's become a joke. "No, no, really - THIS is the year of my life?" Happy Haloween weekend!

I LOVE this!

I think that I am in a constant state of tweak. Not that I am discontent with my life and surroundings - but more that we seek to adapt to out little men and streamline mundane tasks so as to allow for more adventures with them.

We often look for new routes to places we routinely go - and if it is someplace new altogether - even better!

Even the boys exclaim with us "NEW STRETCH OF ROAD!" as we turn off familiar paths onto new ones. They share our love of adventure I think. (Good thing!)

Happy Weekend All!

Oh what a wonderful, wonderful approach to each new birthday year! And so sweet you're both September babies. :) I love your theme this year and that Proust quote captures it perfectly... (Haha, I've also been drinking OJ out of wine glasses, I think it tastes different!)...makes life more fun and more adventurous with every new thing or way of seeing.

Good Morning Jeanette Sweetie...
What a beautiful share this morning. I love it. What a wonderful way to have orange juice in a wine glass, sipped, shaken and definitely stirred. I love it. Walking a different route and seeing things you haven't seen before. It is lovely, quite lovely and I may just have to take that idea and run with it for awhile. See where it takes me.

I pray you are well. I so enjoyed my visit today. Hope you and DH had wonderful birthdays, it sure got you off to a great start.

Have a beautiful weekend sweetie. Many hugs and so much love, Sherry

I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference! This has been my favorite poem since I read it in elementary school (besides FOOTPRINTS). It's easy to be the norm, but not as rewarding. We grow stronger with adversity and it shapes our very core. I love being the odd (WO)man out!

I rather like that idea! Thinking outside of the box. Have my tea in champagne glasses perhaps. (My husband gave me champagne years ago and I took one sniff and said: "It looks like piss and smells like vinegar. I'm not drinking it." But hey, there's still hope for me!
