left unattended...

This photo is of a quail egg we found on the engine of Andrew Henry's old work truck, alone and unattended.  It was early in the season, long before hatching time.  We periodically checked it but no momma ever came back, it was a dud I suppose, but it made me sad.  An unhatched egg holds so much promise and I hated to see it wither and fade.
I've been a thinkin' about things inside me that I've ignored and left unattended.  Interests, passions and dreams that got lost in the shuffle of life.  I'm away from home right now with time to think.  My shops are closed for a few days and the housework and errands can beckon me but I'm too far away to hear them.  I'm getting ideas, lots of ideas.

I think we should try to remember these things, write them down.  Nothing is too small or too big to make the "stuff I always loved to do or want to do" list.

Is there anything you loved to do but haven't thought about in years?

Funny, now that you say that, I used to paint. Hmmm... perhaps it's time to break out the brushes? xo

There are many things that I think about often but can't seem to make time for at the moment. I wonder what has been forgotten.

Dormant but not gone forever. I beleive that those interests & passions will be reawakened when the time comes. Other interests, passions and love are found along the journey... partnership, love, parenthood. We must remember to not get so lost in mourning what is past that we miss what is wonderful and opportune in the present. j

I like how you can see the little scratches from her feet in the dirt. It is sad that the little egg never made it, but we have seen more egg shells in other places where you can see the eggs hatched OK.

There are so many things I am certain I've forgotten. So many people I've lost touch with.
I've always wanted to learn how to speak French, for example...
Its so nice to 'hear' from you! I hope you're well.

I can't wait to hear about all the ideas! I'm sure there are some great ones lingering up there in that very creative head of yours...

The unhatched egg is so very metaphorical. Beautiful post.

So true - sometimes you need a break - to step back a little to get perspective. And of course you need some unencumbered time to think creatively!!
