pagoda 15...

This is the 15th post in the semi-weekly (okay maybe sometimes more like monthly) Wednesday morning Pagoda series which chronicles the almost 5 years we spent turning the 1970's house we bought "as is" into our home - which we call "Pagoda".

Last time we toured the master bathroom.  This time we're going to take a look at the heart of every home - the kitchen.  This is going to take more than one post so we'll start today and finish it up tomorrow and Friday.
Let's begin with the lovely lavendar beauty that was the kitchen when we moved in - the "before" and "during".  This is what we moved into (one of my least favorite colors)...

We kept the light fixture above and used it in our powder room - you can see it here.   Getting ready to tear down that back wall - note the blue tape on the floor mapping out the future island...

The wall seperated the kitchen from the old dining room we tore it down to make the kitchen much bigger and oh yes, the ceiling is coming down as well...

the placement of the sink and window is the same as it was but it looks a little different now...

Andrew Henry made that awesome concrete countertop.

Tomorrow we'll take a closer look at what's hanging on the wall - always my favorite part of a room.

I can't believe how different it looks! Why did the ceiling come down? Was it like that for very long? That lavender kitchen was really something, wasn't it?

Bronwyn, I should have been more clear - we TOOK the ceiling down so we could raise it from 7' to 9'.

What a transition! Spectacular! I love the splashes of green here and there. Your home should be featured in a magazine!

It's a good thing I don't have to talk because my jaw is still on the ground. That is such a beautiful makeover! I LOVE what you guys did to the space - so open, airy, and darn chic! Love the injection of colour.

This makes me miss home. Also, how is there no jewelry on the counter???

I love looking at the old photo's. I've always enjoyed taking old things and rehab'ing them. Started early with the hand-me-down bike's I used to get.

Once again, the vision belongs to Jeanette. She was able to see through the lavender cabinets and 7' ceilings.

LOVE the green splashes too - white and pear - very IN this year - leave it to you to know that - I love clean the colors look.

I was thinking the very question MJM beat me to! Where did all that jewelry stuff go - and the forever burned oatmeal pot?!

Geez Jeanette, you and your husband are seriously talented!! Are you an interior designer? Did you two do most of the work? It looks professionally designed and I agree with the others when I say magazine worthy. It's stunning!!!
I wish I had vision like that!
Many kudos to you again on another awe inspiring transformation!
